Machair is a Gaelic word for the fertile, low-lying grasslands found only on exposed northwest shores of Scotland and Ireland, particularly in the Outer Hebrides. At Machair we take both our name and spirit from these rare and rugged plains, all of our designs offering a feast of unique textures, colours, scents and forms which echo the vibrant Scottish landscapes that inspire us most. From blushing Hebridean sunsets, sweeping acid-green Flow Country, the dark lichen-dappled crags of the Cairngorms to the russet hues of a sandstone tenement under the gloaming moon - we work closely with clients to create considered, contemporary designs which tell a unique story of place, seasonality and connection.
